Originally meaning “those who serve in close attendance to the nobility”. The kanji is pierced through the pendant and suspended within the circle. It is held by a circular round tube bail at the top of the medallion. The Samurai were the military nobility of Japan. This warrior class or bushi of Japan were the highly skilled military men and women of feudal Japan. Trained in both weaponed and weaponless arts like jujutsu the samurai were fierce warriors. Known for their bravery, loyalty, and these skills with a variety of weapons, including both the bow and the traditional japanese fighting sword, the katana, the Samurai helped shape the history of Japan.
